Microsoft was quick to blacklist the keys and was prompt to respond that they had superior licensing technology within Windows 7 to counter such hacking. The technology is labelled as WAT Windows Activation Technology.

People who use pirated and cracked software, will mostly likely be unable to update Windows 7 without deactivating the crack.
