Free Web Statistics W3Counter Launches Version 4

If you read my previous Article on Ten Best Free Web Statistics and Analytics Packages. I had reviewed W3counter a pretty good web stats package. They launched a new version and have opened up to the public. (Previously the free registration was closed) Below is a list of new features that have been released.

New Interface

Multiple site accounts: Navigate between reports for multiple sites faster than ever.

New Reports

Visitor Locations: An updated report of where your visitors are around the world, now with Google Maps display of individual visitors.
Visitor Languages: A breakdown of the languages your site visitors speak.
Click Overlay: The updated Click Overlay works with even more websites, showing you exactly what links your visitors click on from each page of your site.
Click List: A tabular view of the click data for any page of your website.
Visit Length: Discover how much time visitors spend on your website before leaving.
Visit Depth: A report of how many pages your visitors view during each session.
New Referrers: What sites started linking to you for the first time today.
New Searches: What searches people used to find your site today that haven’t been used before.

You might prefer this web stats Program to Google analytics since the User Interface is extremely friendly to use, Looks like Clicky has some competition. The Free Version is limited to 5000 Page views per day which is more than enough for average blogs.

Google To Acquire Feedburner ?

Mashable has a article which is based on a rumor that google is about to acquire Feedburner. Their source is the vecosys blog which is run by Sam Sethi.

I have just heard from a VERY trusted source that Google is buying Feedburner in order to get into the rapidly evolving RSS Ad market. The delay in announcing the deal, I am told is solely due to the delay in closing out the DoubleClick deal.

This should be really interesting since the one thing lacking in Google analytics is a way to track Rss Feed readers. Meanwhile the Google analytics blog has just annouced that they have rolled out the newly designed interface for everyone. I would really love to see both my Feedburner and Google analytics stats on the same page. I have stopped using other Statistics since the google redesigned the analytics interface.

At Last Google Analytics Revamps and Redesigns Interface

A while back I had reviewed Ten Best Free Web Statistics and Analytics Packages and had given google analytics negative points for usability. The Google Analytics blog just announced that they have redesigned and revamped the analytics interface. This was one of the major drawbacks of Google Analytics, while it was a powerful web statistics program it was way to complicated to use. The new redesign will be rolled out slowly looking at the screen the interface looks really awesome. I am sure the majority of bloggers every where have been using Google analytics and this new redesign gives more reasons to use it. I been using Reinvigorate too for the past one month it has a much better user interface I was tempted to lable it as the best web statistics program but now with the recent revamp of the Google Analytics interface it does not stand a chance.

Wordpress Launches Free Hosted Stats

The folks at Wordpress.com just announced the launch of their Free Hosted Stats. I been hosted on Wordpress.com for sometime about 3-4 months and I really liked their simple Statistics page which showed me all that I wanted to see about my blog. The Wordpress guys have released a Plugin which you just need to activate you’ll also need the Free API Key to activate it. Though if you are using Akismet you can use the same key.

Andy Skelton wrote the plugin and has a detailed post on what the plugin does and how to use it.

How does it work?

The plugin adds a tiny image to your blog and that image is hosted on our servers. Every time your blog is viewed by a browser with javascript enabled, the browser downloads that image and we see a new line in our server logs. We then process the server logs and insert the data into a big MySQL database that we use to generate the lists and charts on your stats page.

What makes it fast?

When you run your own stats system, your blog server has to do a lot of extra work to track each visit. We take that load off your server to keep it snappy.

By serving the javascript from stats.wordpress.com, we take advantage of the browser cache so that no matter how many blogs are visited, the script is only loaded once per week.

Advanced Free Web Statistics and Analytics Packages

Google Analytics

Rating: 8/10

One of the best and Advanced Free Web Statistics and Analytics Package available on the internet. It provides every possible data that you could wish for. The main advantage is there is no cap on the limit of data collected by this web tool. The only drawback is the usability of the web package.

Stuff that Google Analytics does not do.

You cannot see or view the IP addresses of the visitors.
What keywords were being used by Various search engine to reach my site.
Next the Full referring links cannot be viewed without hacking the package.

W3counter

Rating 7/10 Online demo

This is another great free Web Statistics and Analytics Package. Which provides the standard features that web packages usually provide i.e. Visits and Page Views, Feed stats, Sources, System, Browsers, Screen resolution etc. This Web Statistics package also lets you store unlimited about of stats. A good free alternative to google analytics if you find Google Analytic’s interface too complicated.

Addfreestats

Rating: 6/10 online Demo

This is quite comparable to Google Analytics though the amount of data shown is overwhelming. And the interface is extremely cluttered.

Drawbacks: it Requires you to put a small web badge, link to their website.

StatCounter

Rating 6/10 Online Demo

One of the most Popular Free Web Statistics and Analytics Package on the internet. Even though StatCounter is very popular they have a capped limit of 100 for the logs. Which makes it useful only for low traffic websites.

Reinvigorate

Rating: 7/10

This is a new player in the field Currently invite only. The Data is presented is a very easy on the eye and a treat to look at. Though currently it still in a beta stage so certain feature have not been fully enabled.

Performancing Metrics & Clicky

Rating: 7/10

Update: Performancing looks like a rip off of Clicky the only difference is Clicky Provides higher Storage of Stats 50,000 Page Views Per Day for Free vs the measly 1,000 page views per day by performancing.

Previously the Performancing Service had shutdown now it has relaunched and redesigned and updated the statistics Package. At one time Performancing metrics was extremely popular and did not limit or cap the amount of statistics data stored on the server. Currently the free version has a limit of 1000 page views perday which is very less. Though they claim to be better than other stats packages it remains to be seen if that is true.

MyBlogLog

Rating 4/10

This Stats Tool provides the most basic statistics that are relevant only for bloggers.

Crazy Egg

Rating 7/10

This Web tool is more focused on analyzing the Clicking behavior of the user on a webpage to to find the most popular zones on a webpage. this is especially useful for optimizing you ad placement to see where the attention of the users is being directed when they are on a webpage. Again this service is not completely free and limits the amount of stats data for the free version.

Search Engine Optimizations and Keyword analysis and statistics

103Bees & Hitail

Rating 8/10 for 103Bees

Rating 6/10 for Hitail

103bees is better than Hitail since it is a completely free service and show more usable data and statistics such as highest ranked keywords, Search Questions etc.

These are real time analysis highly focused on natural search engine traffic analytics. They provides tons of detailed statistics and in-depth information on the search terms that drive targeted traffic to your websites.

These are indispensable tools for search engine optimization (SEO) and internet marketing.

Free Wordpress Web Statistics and Analytics Packages

The Stats packages provided below are specify to Wordpress and require you to install them as a plugin in wordpress. They are not recommened if you own a wordpress blog which gets a lot of traffic. They stats show by these packages and tools are very simple and easy to use and view.

StatTraq , WP-SlimStat, WP-ShortStat, firestats

Conclusion: One single Statistics and Analytics Packages may not be enough for you if you are a Analytics and Statistics Junkie and want to know every kind of possible Analytic data to improve your website. A combination of these various statistics packages would be a better option.
